Natural Ease. Restoring wellbeing in anxious times ; TYC Saturday 28th May 1.30-4.30pm; Cost: $60
In our present challenging times we may experience uncertainty or distress that can lead to feelings of increased anxiety and chronic stress. The ancient yogis described this as a state of imbalance in the three primary energies of the universal physics (prakriti) that make up the world of what is “seen”: sattvic (balanced), rajasic (active) and tamasic (stable) gunas. Anxiety involves excessive rajasic energy. In modern terms we might understand this as an excess of sympathetic nervous system arousal.
In this Workshop we will work with Viniyoga practices of breath-centric movement, breath work and sound designed to alleviate conditions of anxiety. Addressing physiological, cognitive, emotional and behavioural domains the practices teach us methods to reduce hyperarousal and restore our well-being.

What is Viniyoga?
Viniyoga is a comprehensive and authentic transmission of the teachings of yoga including āsana, prāṇāyāma, bandha, sound, chanting, meditation, personal ritual and study. Viniyoga is an ancient Sanskrit term that suggests differentiation, adaptation, and appropriate application to each individual.
The Teacher – Jan Beange RYT500, C-IAYT, began her yoga journey many years ago at TYC. She trained with the American Viniyoga Institute in 2015 and later with the Stress Management Center of Marin as a Certified Yoga Therapist. Her training incorporates the lineage of Krishnamcharya, TKV Desikichar, Iyengar and Sacred Path Meditation training in the lineage of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche.
