Beginners Yoga

The first step in your yoga journey. And like all activities we need to ‘crawl-before we walk’  Beginners classes will introduce you to yoga asanas (poses) in a safe and aware manner.  It will teach you how to find good ‘posture’ in your body and it will build stamina and flexibility in your body. The  benefits on your mind ,will become evident quite quickly and you will love the relaxation pose (savasana) at the end of each class. You will learn to breathe well. Breathing is vital to life and yet when in a day do we ever pay attention to how we are breathing(usually not until we are ill -or it becomes challenging). In yoga we refer to the breath as prana.

Yoga meets you at your present level of flexibility and strength. Beginning yoga students all have very different levels of flexibility and strength. In class, you work at your own capacity with verbal instruction,adjustment and demonstrations from your Teacher.  One great reason to start yoga is to build bone strength, core strength, and improve flexibility. Progress can be measured week by week.

We have 10 teachers at TYC and all teach similar poses with their unique ‘flavour’. So come along and try a few classes & teachers -you may find a particular teachers style appeals initially and then you may want to try other classes and teachers.

Once you are a member at TYC you can attend as many classes per day/week during the 12 week term, as you like.
